ONE Nordic's subsidiary Lapplands Elnät will electrify the largest windfarm in Europe
Lappland Elnät AB, subsidiary of ONE Nordic AB, with its head office in Jokkmokk, has won a new prestigious project within the wind power sector. This time, it is about electrifying the windfarm network for what is planned to be Europe's largest land-based windfarm - Markbygden Ett outside Piteå. The order value for Lapplands Elnät amounts to just over 130 MSEK. The agreement means that Lapplands Elnät further strengthens its position in the wind power sector and also provides the company with a solid foundation for the continued growth strategy to bring the wind power offer to the Scandinavian market.
The windfarm will be built in three stages and the project will continue until 2020. Lappland Elnät's committment as subcontractor to NCC Infrastructure involves the installation of the cables that will link together the 179 wind power stations in the park and connect them to the power distribution grid. With its 650 megawatts, Markbygden Ett is expected to be the largest single land-based windfarm in Europe. The windfarm is expected to be in full operation by the end of 2019.
"It feels really good to get this trust from NCC Infrastructure. For us, this is a great acknowledgment that Lapplands Elnät has a good reputation and position in the wind power industry. Historically, this is by far the largest single project for LLapplands Elnät. This, of course, gives us additional opportunities to recruit more employees with an interest in working with us in exciting and developing projects, "says Stefan Helmvall, CEO of Lappland Electricity.
